Everything about the EV charging business
Straight answers on cost, land, licenses, ROI and timelines. Still have a question? Our team is a message away.

How much does it cost to open an EV charging station in India?
It depends on the charger mix. A basic AC charging point starts around ₹1.5–5 lakh all-inclusive, a 30 kW DC fast charging station typically needs ₹12–20 lakh (charger, civil work, DISCOM connection, software), and a highway hub with 60–120 kW chargers can range ₹25 lakh to ₹1 crore+. Our feasibility report gives you an exact number for your site.
How much land is required for an EV charging station?
A minimum of about 500–1,000 sq ft works for a 2–3 gun city station. Highway stations with parking and amenities ideally need 2,000–5,000 sq ft. Both owned and leased land are acceptable — we help with lease agreements too.
Do I need a license to run an EV charging station?
EV charging is a de-licensed activity in India — any individual or business can set one up. However you still need a DISCOM electricity connection (or load enhancement), CEIG electrical safety clearance for HT setups, a Fire NOC and local municipal permissions. We manage all of these for you.
What is the earning potential / ROI?
Stations typically earn a margin of ₹5–12 per kWh sold plus parking/amenity income. A well-located 30 kW DC charger dispensing 150–200 kWh/day can generate ₹60,000–1,50,000 per month, with payback in roughly 2–4 years. Solar integration improves margins further.
Which documents do I need to apply?
Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank passbook/statement, a passport-size photo, and land ownership or lease documents.
Can my station run on solar power?
Yes. We design hybrid stations where rooftop/canopy solar (installed at roughly ₹45,000–50,000 per kW) feeds your chargers with grid + optional battery backup. Solar typically cuts your energy cost by 30–50% and qualifies for accelerated depreciation benefits.
How long does the whole setup take?
From application approval to go-live, a typical AC station takes 3–5 weeks and a DC fast charging station 6–10 weeks, driven mostly by DISCOM connection timelines in your state.
Do you help with government subsidies?
Yes. Many states offer capital subsidies (up to 25% in some policies), reduced EV tariffs and property tax rebates. Our compliance team prepares and files subsidy applications on your behalf wherever applicable.
